#DELL POWEREDGE 2950 VMWARE ESXI 6 INSTALL#
It went through the install without any problem, at one point it stated this was evaluation mode for 60 days and I would have to get a license to continue using. Hope this will not be a problem when I install windows. The Bios did not have a USB choice for boot device, so I put the USB above the C drive and it booted OK. I had watch a Dell video on the setup, it said to have the Bios set with C drive as "top" drive and have the Boot Order set to check USB first. When I booted with the USB drive in the back the install found it and the hard drive to install to, I picked the 8 Gb USB drive.

I did change the Bios in the CPU Information, Enabled - Virtualization Technology, the error went away. Is it best to install to the hard drives or USB? I am not asking for step by step (oh that would be nice! ) but any info or links would be appreciated. Disk will be repartitioned" I remember something about the VM software would install to a USB drive ( I did not have one plugged in) not the hard drive. But I hit Next anyway and it loaded some more, stopped (and sitting at) a statement "The installer is configured to install ESXI 6.0.0 on naa.xxxxxx long number. I really thought I had changed something in the Bios to for this. Stopped with a Warning / Error that Hardware virtualzation is not a feature of the CPU or it is not enabled. Booted from that disk and it went through some loading. I downloaded and created a boot disk "VMware ESXI 6.0.0 - Dell Custom" cannot remember where or all the steps but I have a slow day and thought I would work on the project. I got the server loaded with 8 HD and setup for Raid 10. I had ask about doing a virtual server on Dell 2900, replies from others said they had. First off I apologize that I am asking some of the same questions I ask a year ago (or longer) could not find those post and thought best to start fresh again.
